Do you have any pre-game rituals?
I really, really look forward to gameday. My preparation starts immediately aftert a game has ended, through my trainings, the gym, work, home….everything. Theres nothing at all like a game hockey! As for rituals, nah – none. Just plenty of water, raisins and energising tunes.

What was your first ever game? What was it like?
I think my first ever game was for the Sheffield Samurai’s ( under 10′s ) first ever game, away at Solihull. The team was in its first ever year and it was around 93′ish.
I can’t remember much, apart from changing lines on the buzzer and scoring my first ever goal. It was one I’d never forget….clean through, one on one, trips over own feet, slide into keeper and somehow put the puck in the net with no penalty given ( this was to be the start of a lifetime of ‘spawnyness’ )

What is your greatest achievement(s) in Hockey?
Winning the league and being a captain for the Sheffield Under 16′s A League, representing the Midlands at all ages, playing for England Under 16′s all around Europe and home, GB under 18′s, school of excellence and finally…..playing for the Sheffield Steelers – my most very, very proudest time as a hockey player.
Favourite Rink and why?
Queens Road, Sheffield (RIP!). Although it is no longer a part of the hockey world. No place felt more like home than Queens Road. The amount of fun, stories, memories, mischief and experiences I had there over 10 – 12 years is something I will never, ever forget. ( a feeling shared with most to have player there )

Least favourite Rink and why?
Whitley Bay…..for oh so many reasons you’ll all know about.

What do you love most about Hockey?
It is simply the greatest sport there is. A fast paced, skilful, tough, passionate, emotional and intense sport that brings out the best, worst and funniest in people. You will only ever get what it is to be in a hockey team when you’ve actually been in one – its difficult to describe but even more difficult to give up

And finally, 3 words to describe your style of play……..
NEEDS — TO —WIN ( I am the worst kind of loser )
